Winning at The Big Bang South West

Jul 11, 2011

The following is an account by Laura Gould- winner of the Young Engineer for Britain award for Manufacture & Finish.  The award that Laura won was sponsored by TDK Lambda who also kindly provided sponsorship for the whole of the Young Engineer for Britain Group 1 (16-19)

The Big Bang event was really successful and well organised. Every student got to see the work of lots of schools which was inspiring and hands on. The workshops and demonstrations were educational and fun and everybody was very enthusiastic. It was nice for students to have their own stands and the event teaches you skills in how to present yourself and communicate with the Judges/public which will become invaluable in later life. I really enjoyed the day; a lot of time goes into designing and manufacturing your work and I was really chuffed to of won the award for ‘Manufacture and Finish’ for my ‘Decorative Surfaces’ project as well as £30 to spend at WHSmiths. Pleased to see it so well supported and hope it is just as successful in the years to come.
